Although many people feel intimidated by the idea of group therapy, this modality of treatment can be a very powerful path toward healing for a number of reasons. Collaborating with a group of people who are struggling with similar concerns helps you understand on an experiential level that you are not alone. Group members become a source of mutual support. Participants often benefit greatly from hearing others experiences and find it very rewarding to help others by sharing what they have learned. Hearing different perspectives can create a paradigm shift that can help participants get “unstuck”. Dr. Ochester offers a variety therapy groups and mindfulness classes – if you aren’t already one of her clients, an initial meeting is required to make sure the group is right for you.
Are you struggling with anxiety? This closed therapy group is designed to help you practice the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion, give and receive support with others who truly understand, and learn to meet your fears with courage, acceptance and commitment. Before and after measures indicate that most who complete the 8-week group experience a significant reduction in anxiety. Participation in this 8-week group also provides a great foundation for joining the ongoing Clear Mind, Open Heart open therapy group should you decide to continue.
When: 8-Monday evenings 7-9 pm starting June 3, 2019
Cost: $40 per session
